Oil-immersed power transformers, as one of the core equipment in the power system, mainly use oil as the main insulation means of the transformer and rely on oil as a cooling medium. Its internal structure is filled with transformer oil, which not only has excellent cooling performance, but also provides strong insulation protection to ensure the stability and reliability of the transformer during operation. The main components of oil-immersed transformers include iron core, winding, oil tank, radiator, insulating bushing, tap changer, etc. These components work together to realize the various functions of the transformer.

The role of oil-immersed power transformers in power grids

1. Voltage conversion

Oil-immersed transformers can reduce high voltage to low voltage, or increase low voltage to high voltage, so as to meet the voltage level requirements of different power equipment and users. In the power grid, it usually reduces the high-voltage network voltage of 10(6)kV or 35kV to the bus voltage of 230/400V for users. This function is crucial to the stable operation of the power system and the normal power consumption of users.

2. Power distribution and transmission

Oil-immersed transformers play a core role in power distribution and transmission in the power grid. They can transmit the power generated by the power plant to the substation through the transmission line, and then convert and distribute the voltage level through the transformer, and finally transmit the power to each user. This process ensures the effective use and stable supply of power.

3. Maintain system stability

Oil-immersed transformers have high mechanical strength and good electrical performance. They can withstand abnormal conditions such as short circuits and overloads to ensure the stable operation of the power system.

The windings and cores of oil-immersed transformers are placed in an oil tank filled with transformer oil. Transformer oil not only has good insulation properties, which can prevent coil short circuits and electric shock accidents, but also has excellent cooling effects. Through the circulation of oil, the heat generated by the transformer during operation can be effectively taken away, ensuring the normal operation of the transformer and extending its service life.

4. Improve energy utilization efficiency

Oil-immersed transformers are made of advanced electromagnetic design and high-quality materials, with high energy conversion efficiency, can reduce energy loss and reduce operating costs.

Practical application of oil-immersed transformers in power grids

Oil-immersed transformers are widely used in power grids, covering multiple fields such as power transmission, substation, distribution and special uses. In the power transmission link, high-voltage transformers are used to transmit electric energy from power plants to distant users; in the substation link, medium and low voltage transformers are used to convert high-voltage electric energy into low-voltage electric energy for distribution; in the distribution link, transformers are used to distribute electric energy to various users or electrical equipment.

Oil-immersed transformers play a vital role in the power grid, undertaking multiple tasks such as voltage conversion, power distribution and transmission, maintaining system stability, and improving energy efficiency. Through reasonable design and optimized operation, oil-immersed transformers can ensure efficient, safe, and stable transmission and distribution of power to meet the needs of various users.
