About GPO-3 Insulation Material Definitions
	GPO-3 is a glass reinforced thermoset polyester sheet. GPO-3 is strong, stiff, dimensionally stable and impact resistant. The material also has excellent electrical properties, including fire, arc and tracking resistance. It is widely used in electrical insulation applications. GPO-3 is also used in mechanical applications requiring strength, stiffness, dimensional stability and relatively low cost.
	
	GPO-3 sheets offer an excellent combination of high strength, flame retardancy and low smoke production. It is commonly manufactured into interphase and end barriers and switchgear; GPO-3 is also popular in transportation and marine applications where a safe and economical material is required. In fact, ThyssenKrupp Engineering Plastics supplies “transit-grade” GPO materials designed specifically for New York City’s transportation system. It is now also used in many other cities for third rail covers and other applications.

GPO-3 material usage
	GPO-3 thermosets are widely used in:
	Insulators for electromechanical equipment
	Electrical insulation structure: GPO-3 is used to manufacture isolation boards, isolation covers, support structures, etc. for electrical equipment, providing good electrical insulation performance.
	Motor and transformer components: Due to its good insulation properties and mechanical strength, GPO-3 is often used in the manufacture of partitions, terminal boards, support structures, etc. for motors and transformers.
	Control cabinets and electrical boxes: Used to manufacture enclosures and support structures for electrical equipment, providing good insulation and mechanical support.
	Cable Support Systems: GPO-3 materials are often used to create cable support and insulation structures to ensure cables are supported and isolated inside equipment.
	Fuses and Circuit Breakers: GPO-3 is used to manufacture insulating components of fuses and circuit breakers that provide safe insulating isolation in electrical circuits.
	Thermal Insulation: Due to its heat resistance, GPO-3 is also used in the manufacture of some thermal insulation components, such as insulating supports for high-temperature electrical equipment.
	Electronic components: GPO-3 materials are widely used in some electronic components, such as casings of electronic equipment, isolation boards, etc.
	Thermal insulation materials in high-temperature environments: Due to its good high-temperature resistance, GPO-3 can also be used in some occasions that require heat insulation.

GPO-3 material parameters
	Electrical insulation properties:
	Insulation Rating: GPO-3 typically has a UL94 V-0 flame retardant rating.
	Dielectric strength: Typically between 20-30 kV/mm.
	Mechanical behavior:
	Tensile strength: Typical value is ≥ 140 MPa.
	Bending strength: usually above ≥ 270 MPa.
	Thermal performance:
	Thermal Temperature Resistance: GPO-3 is generally able to withstand higher temperatures with sustained use, typically between 120°C and 155°C, depending on thickness and manufacturer.
	Chemical stability:
	Chemical Resistance: GPO-3 generally has good resistance to some chemicals, solvents and oils.
	Flame retardancy:
	UL94 rating: GPO-3 usually complies with the UL94 V-0 flame retardant rating, which means it has better flame retardant performance in the flame test.
	Dimensional stability:
	Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: GPO-3 has a relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion, resulting in small dimensional changes.
