1.What is fr4?
FR4 (Flame Retardant 4) is a glass fiber reinforced four-layer epoxy resin composite material with flame retardant properties. It is a common insulating material widely used in the electronics industry, especially in the manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCBs). FR4 materials are typically made by laminating multiple layers of fiberglass cloth, coating epoxy resin between each layer, and then thermally curing them under high temperatures and pressures.
FR4 anti-static board is specially processed on the basis of FR4 material to have anti-static properties. The surface coating of anti-static panels usually includes a layer of material with better conductivity to prevent the accumulation and release of static electricity.
2. The difference between FR4 and FR4 anti-static boards:
Conductive properties: The main difference is that anti-static panels have conductive properties and can prevent the generation and accumulation of static electricity. And ordinary FR4 materials are not specifically designed to prevent static electricity.
Purpose: FR4 is mainly used for general electronic insulation needs, such as PCB base materials. The FR4 anti-static board is more suitable for electrostatic-sensitive application scenarios, such as the production and storage of electronic components.
Anti-static performance: FR4 anti-static boards usually add a layer of conductive material on the surface of the material to ensure the rapid discharge of static electricity and prevent damage to electronic components. This makes FR4 anti-static boards more suitable in some special electronic manufacturing and assembly environments.
Generally speaking, FR4 anti-static boards are based on ordinary FR4 substrates and add a layer with better conductivity to provide more professional anti-static performance. The choice of which material to use often depends on the specific application and needs.
