Crepe paper is generally made from high-purity wood pulp or cotton pulp and is carefully crafted through a special process. Its cellulose content exceeds 90% and there are very few impurities, which provides a solid material basis for its excellent insulation performance. When making crepe paper, the paper surface will form uniform fine wrinkles through a mechanical creping process. This structure not only greatly increases the surface area of the paper, but also generates a large number of tiny air pockets inside.

1. Crepe paper in transformers

Insulating oil impregnated materials

In the manufacturing process of transformers, crepe paper is often selected as insulating oil impregnated material. The specific operation is: immerse the crepe paper in the transformer oil to fully absorb the oil; then wrap the crepe paper around the winding, or fill it between the winding and the iron core. In this way, the crepe paper not only plays the role of electrical insulation, but also increases the heat dissipation area and improves the heat dissipation efficiency of the transformer with its crepe structure. In addition, the impregnated crepe paper can effectively prevent the winding from moisture and oxidation, and extend the service life of the transformer.

Interlayer insulation and interturn insulation

In the manufacture of transformer windings, crepe paper is also frequently used as interlayer insulation and interturn insulation materials. Placing crepe paper between different layers of the winding, or between turns, can effectively avoid short circuit faults inside the winding and improve the reliability of transformer operation.

2. Crepe paper in capacitors

As a dielectric material or impregnation material

In the field of capacitor manufacturing, crepe paper can be used as a dielectric material and directly used in the construction of capacitors. It can also be used as an impregnation material to impregnate capacitor cores. Its excellent electrical insulation performance and good oil absorption allow capacitors to operate stably in high voltage and high frequency environments. At the same time, crepe paper can also improve the voltage resistance of capacitors and extend their service life.

Improve the stability and reliability of capacitors

Given that crepe paper has good thermal stability and mechanical properties, it can ensure that the capacitor maintains stable performance during long-term operation. Its crepe structure can also effectively disperse the electric field distribution inside the capacitor, reduce the occurrence of partial discharge, and improve the reliability of the capacitor.

3. Crepe paper in cables

Used as cable paper or insulation material

In the cable manufacturing process, crepe paper is often used as cable paper or insulation material. Its excellent electrical insulation and mechanical properties enable the cable to stably transmit electrical energy in various harsh environments. At the same time, crepe paper can also effectively prevent short circuits and leakage inside the cable, enhancing the safety of the cable.

Enhance the flexibility and durability of cables

The wrinkled structure of crepe paper allows the cable to maintain good flexibility and durability when it is bent and twisted. This helps reduce the risk of damage to the cable during laying and use, and extends the service life of the cable.

As an excellent insulation material, crepe paper plays a key role in transformers, capacitors, cables and other electrical equipment. Its unique physical and chemical properties enable it to meet the needs of different application scenarios, providing strong support for improving the performance, ensuring safety and extending the service life of electrical equipment.
